Infants

Our team of infant teachers are certified, educated early childhood professionals and are CPR and first aid certified. Each teacher is required to maintain their accreditation through professional development trainings designed to supplement their many years of experience with new ideas and up to date initiatives. Teachers plan and implement each curriculum based on the Massachusetts Early Learning Guidelines for Infants and Toddlers. As goals are set for individual infants, activities are provided and teachers document each child’s stage of development.

Infant 1

The infant 1 room is for infants from six weeks to six months of age. This room provides very young infants with a calm, soothing environment. Our infants are held and nurtured throughout the day with hands-on teacher and child interaction. Teachers work with parents to establish a schedule that best meets the needs of each infant.

Infant 2

Our infant 2 room is for children six months to 15 months of age. This room is for children who are becoming mobile and practicing newly acquired skills. As you walk into this room you will see teachers interacting with each infant through reading, singing, and promoting tummy time. This room is set up to encourage infants to use their skills to crawl, sit up, pull up to stand, and walk. Our teachers will also work with your child to teach self-help skills, such as eating finger foods when appropriate. Infants also learn sign language as an additional form of communication so that our teachers are able to meet the needs of each child.

Here at Basic Beginnings, we strongly believe that ongoing communication between the staff and parents, is the key to success. Along with verbal communication, journals are provided for each infant. Our teachers note feedings, diaper changes, daily activities, and developmental milestones.
