Our Curriculum

Beginning with our infants, teachers plan and implement each program based on the Massachusetts Early Learning Guidelines for Infants and Toddlers. As goals are set for individual infants, activities are provided and teachers document each child’s stage of development. Primary caregivers work diligently with parents to ensure that each child has a meaningful experience.

At Basic Beginnings, children are provided with the necessary tools that create a strong foundation to instill a love of learning that will follow them through life. Our teachers actively engage in playtime, which we believe is an essential piece of the learning process to help your child develop critical thinking, language, reasoning, sharing, and spatial awareness skills.

On a typical day children from infancy through school-age will experience sign language, theme-related activities, fine motor, gross motor, language, music & movement, history, health & safety, science, technology, art, math, and phonics just to name a few. Your child will learn about one country a month along with an author and an artist. Cooking activities are also provided on a weekly basis as is our sports and music program. Computers, educational tablets, and other electronics are incorporated two to three times per week.

Classrooms are set up to encourage exploration and hands on learning in a safe and nurturing environment. In each room your child will find develop their listening, reading and writing skills through multiple academic centers set up for art, sensory and dramatic play. Children are taken in small groups to our onsite library where they can pick a book of choice.

Children continue to learn while outdoors in our playground through free play and planned activities.  Seasonal activities include planting, caring for, and picking vegetables from our garden. At times we experience inclement weather throughout the year and each child can utilize our indoor gross motor room where they can play with balls, ride bikes, run and climb, engage in parachute play.

At Basic Beginnings we believe in the importance of providing each child with the knowledge, opportunity, and tools that they will need to be successful through their school years. Children graduating from our preschool program have surpassed the kindergarten entrance testing standards. Teachers work closely with parents to empower each and every child. We strongly believe in our goal and motto; “Inspire a Child, Change the World.”
